Shai Linne – Ministry in Rap

There are a number of Christian musicians who are so well versed biblically in their songs but I want to highlight Shai Linne. His lyrics drew astonished responses (kind of funny) from “The Way of the Master” crew (Kirk Cameron, Ray Comfort and Todd Friel) and they place their responses throughout this first video. The video below it is comment-free from Shai Linne telling the story of Christ’s crucifixion with some clips from Mel Gibson’s movie, “The Passion of Christ.”

Thanks to Job of Jesus Christology where I first saw the video. Check out Job’s site to see which of Shai Linne’s videos is tagged “My Favorite Rap Song Ever!”

Thank God for young musicians that can make such great music combined with great theology!

Listen to the end of this video as other Christian rappers are named. This is great for us parents who don’t know anything about music but would love to know what to buy for our rap loving children!

Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr., selects McCain for President

The video below is a discussion among Black Conservatives on why values and views are more important than skin color. This was held in Washington D.C. in September of this year by the Family Research Council. Included in this discussion is Dr. Alveda King, Star Parker, Bishop Harry Jackson (President of High Impact Coalition and pastor of Hope Christian Church), William Owens Jr. (President of Higher Standards Enterprise, Inc.) and Eric M. Wallace, PhD (President and CEO of Wallace Mulitmedia Group, LLC).

With days before the election, this video needs to be seen by every black person who says that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior! Pass it around – and quick!

See also, Martin Luther King was a Republican – by Dr. Alveda King. She discusses her families ties to the Republican party in this video along with excerpts of speeches by her famous uncle.

I'm Politicked!

Colin Powell endorsing the ultra-liberal Obama, same-sex couples looking for marital equality, minors still able to get abortions without parental consent in California while thousands of other women kill their babies for the mere inconvenience of being pregnant, biblical literature being considered as hate speech, Oprahisms, Obamaisms, and the list goes on.

So what does the Christian do? I’m not talking about the Christianity club members who are just content in paying their dues while not participating in their “club” activities, but those who are committed to Christ in word and deed.

The church has been quiet way too long and if there is going to be any change in our society that change must first come through the individual, then through our actions as we speak out on issues that will affect our lives daily!

Politicked is a catch phrase I found while surfing the net and means “ticked at Politics.” I found a pretty good article from mega-pastor Ed Young in Texas on his blog titled “Politicked.” His sermon reminds me much of my own mega-pastor Miles McPherson and his educating the body of Christ into getting involved with politics. It’s so refreshing to see our pastors involving themselves with issues that affect us and spending time informing and motivating Christians in being active participants in our voting process.

No more contentment in just attending church on Sundays – if even that! No more contentment in being called a Christian for treating people nicely. It’s time to come out of our comfort zone. It’s time to take a stand – on something that means anything to us!

The lastest bit of politic news that’s ruffled my feathers is the ‘no-surprise’ announcement by Colin Powell that he’s endorsing Obama. There were rumors out that he was already working with Obama. He showed his ultimate discontentment with the Republican party by turning his back on McCain and going for Obama for what – economic reasons? I don’t think so. I think, although he won’t admit, it’s because he’s just thrilled a black man other than himself is running for President! Check out a couple of my fellow Christian blogger’s rants on Colin Powell here: La Shawn Barber and Independent Conservative.
(Update 10/29: Adding WakeUpBlackAmerica’s blog article on Colin Powell.)

At first I wasn’t voting for anybody, something I’ve been back and forth on for sometime. The only thing I knew for sure was that I wasn’t voting for Obama. I’m not completely sold on McCain’s economic talks, but when Obama told Joe the plumber he wants to “spread the wealth around,” that convinced me I’m not sold on his economic salvation plan either. And since I’m already against Obama’s pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, questionable friendships, questionable 20 year history with TUCC, his Christianity club membership instead of Christian commitment, and much much more, then it has become clear to me that my vote is going for McCain.

In fact I’ve already mailed in my yellow permanent mail in ballot with my vote. And here are the major issues that I voted for California.

McCain for President
Yes on Prop 8
Yes on Prop 4 (parental notification for abortions)

So folks, there it is: I’m black, female, and four of my five kids are voting for McCain. And everyone else in my entire family is voting for Obama. My kids and I are not persuaded by the Obamamania which is catching a lot of folks, and if the elections were to be held today, Obama could possibly win.

But I pray. I hope. I trust in God.

And there’s still hope for McCain.

That’s my rant for the week.

Coming next: it’s getting close to that time of year again and yes – (no)Kwanzaa time!
My writings on that in detail!

'Bride' and 'Groom' are optional! (Humor – sort of)

Even Nike is Pro-Life! (Nike's 'Fate' Commercial – Awesome!)

Okay, anyone who appreciates life in the womb had to love the beginning of this Nike commercial with the unborn baby kicking away. And being a Charger fan you all know I just absolutely LOVE this commercial because of it featuring my favorite running back – LT! But I love Pittsburg’s Troy Polamalu too!

How fitting is it that these two men are unashamedly believers in Christ?

Enjoy! (Until Nike yanks it from youtube!)

'It's ok to be gay' teachings allowed in schools – without parents permission!

The case of Massachusetts David Parker who was arrested because he refused to leave a meeting where they had turned down his request for allowing him to opt-out his child from class when being taught about homosexuality. This went to the Supreme court and the court refused to intervene and allowed the schools to teach homosexuality without parents’ permission.

All I can say to this is WOW! I am very angry that a parent isn’t even given the option of NOT allowing their child to be indoctrinated with the “it’s okay to be gay” teachings! The parents involved in this case took their children out and are homeschooling, while still paying taxes for this school!

The Fine Line Rally Video ('Yes' on Proposition 8)

The Fine Line Rally on ‘Yes for Proposition 8″ video below if you missed it. Listen to Pastor Miles sermon on marriage, and the panel as they answer these six questions:

  1. “Same-sex marriage doesn’t affect me so why should I be against it?”
  2. “You’re trying to impose your religion, what about separation of church and state?”
  3. “Heterosexuals have the right to get married according to their orientation, but homosexuals – why shouldn’t they have the same right?”
  4. “Half of marriages end up in divorce, so why not allow same-sex marriages? Maybe they’ll do better statistically.”
  5. “Isn’t it true that kids need a loving family regardless whether its a mother or father?”
  6. “If you care about your gay friends, you would want them to be happy and that might mean being able to marry the person they love. So telling them they can’t be married isn’t very loving is it?”

The Fine Line – "Yes for Proposition 8" Rally at the Rock Church!

Update 10/2/08:

The iProtect.com rally was a truly awesome event. Awesome speakers, music and the content of course, informative and spiritually uplifting!

Although I nearly missed it with a blown tire as I was exiting the I-5 freeway ramp to the church, I was still able to make the event. My tire had shredded and I came to a halt right before the protective banisters design to keep people from hitting the concrete wall.

As I was on the phone calling my roadside assistance, the highway patrol came and checked on me since I was near a very dangerous part of the freeway. They called their freeway support that came to my aid (I canceled mine) about 30 minutes later. Fortunately, since I was working for the event and had to be there two hours before, I was still able to get to church in decent time with decent parking especially. The place was nearly filled already!

Anyways, here is a review of what I got out of this event, summarizing what the speakers talked about. This whole event can be seen through mp3′s and on the iProtect link below.

The event started (now, this is only my synopsis and with me working, I missed bits and pieces of it all) with great music by the Katina’s (who ROCKED the church!) and a great sermon by Pastor Miles on marriage. He touched on Genesis 2:18 how the Lord had to find a helper suitable for his creation called “man.” He broke this down superbly and if anyone had a question on God’s intent for marriage after this, then they truly do hate God!

Next came the panel of guests who took on questions that were taken from people and produced electronically on big screens. Here are the questions that were presented and a background on the answers. Again, iProtect.com will have mp3s and other media for last night’s presentation.

What Same Sex Marriage Does to Kindergartners

Article from a local San Diego area pastor, Jim Garlow of Skyline Wesleyan Church in La Mesa, California:

Opponents of Proposition 8 (marriage = one man / one woman) in California say that kindergartners will never be forced to learn about homosexuality from public school. That is what they thought in Massachusetts – until same sex marriage became legal.

Look what happened there. It can happen here. California Education Code 51890 allows a teacher to teach “marriage,” which now means homosexual “marriage.” A portion of the Code states:

a) …all educational programs offered in kindergarten and grades 1 to 12, inclusive, in the public school system, including in-class and out-of-class activities designed to ensure that:
(1) Pupils will receive instruction to aid them in making decisions in matters of …family… health, to include the following subjects:
(D)…marriage and parenthood.

Now, look what happened in Massachusetts to David Parker when he insisted that his kindergartner would not be taught homosexuality. He was taken to jail. Click on this link. See for yourself. (Changed link to youtube video for the purpose of this post.)

Two courts have sided with the school, against the Parkers. The case appears to be headed for the U.S. Supreme Court. This is amazing! A dad arrested for insisting that his five year old not be taught homosexuality.

We, in California are next, unless we pass Prop. 8.

Vote “yes” on Proposition 8 in California, to keep dads from being taken to jail when they protect their five year olds.
